 D1.          Transfer Students:  SSU enrolls transfer students who may earn advanced standing by transferring credits earned from course work completed at other institutions.

D3.          Transfer Acceptance:  Transfer students may first enroll at Savannah State in any term.

D4.          Minimum Credits:  A transfer applicant must have a minimum number of credits completed or else must apply as an entering freshman.  The minimum number of credits & unit of measure is 30 sem. or 45 qtr hours   

D5.          Required Medicals:  The following items are required of transfer students to apply for admission:

D6.           Minimum High School GPA Requirements:  A minimum high school grade point average of 2.0 is required of transfer applicants.

D7.          Minimum College GPA Required:  A minimum college grade point average of 2.0 is required of transfer applicants.

D8.          Required Immunization:  An absolute requirements for all applicants is the Georgia immunization form.

D9.          Critical Date:  The only critical application date for transfer students applies to the fall semester alone.   It is the closing date of 6/01.  Applicants are notified as processed through a rolling admission practice.

D10.       Open Admission:  An open admission policy, if there were one, would apply equally to transfer students.

D11.       Additional Requirements:  There are no additional requirements for transfer admission.

Transfer Credit Policies

D12.       Lowest Accepted Grades:  The lowest grade earned for any course that may be transferred for credit is 2.0.

D13.       Maximum Transfer Credits:  The Maximum number of credits that may be transferred from a two-year institution is 67 semester credits.

D14.        Maximum Transfer Credits, 4-Year Institution:  The maximum number of credits that may be transferred from a four-year institution is 67 semester credits.

D15.       Associate’s Degree:  Savannah State no longer awards associates’ degrees.

D16.       SSU Credits Required:  The minimum number of credits that transfers must complete at Savannah State to earn a bachelor’s degree is 30.

D17.       Transfer Eligibility:  Transfer credit policies described:  Credit is given for transfer courses in which a grade of “C” or better has been earned.  Transfer students are accepted providing they are academically eligible to return to the institution last attended.

D18.       Transfer Student Service:  Students transferring INTO SSU are offered an advisor and an orientation program as special services.  No special services are offered to students transferring OUT of  SSU except for exit counseling by the Financial Aids office in cases where student loans are outstanding.

D19.       Transfer Levels Permitted:  Transfer students accepted at any level:  freshmen; sophomore, junior, & senior.

D20.       Class Level of Transfer Students:  Transfer students entered SSU in at the following levels:
