About national
meta-issues:
It sometimes happens that a creative organizational unit may find itself developing cutting edge objectives that may be far ahead of institutional and industry norms. Often objectives of this type are out in front of established long-range plans and even mission statements for the institution.
Under many traditional planning models and processes, it is difficult to justify undertaking such innovative objectives with established and institutionalized missions, plans, and research findings. To provide an additional alternative to support the crafting of cutting-edge planning objectives, the Strategic Planner provides a menu of large national issues that are under discussion and research currently by scholars and planners on the national and international level. Consensus about how to approach and respond to of these issues may not be well established as yet. May be SSU can establish the benchmark.
The tab for “national meta-issues” lists a series of topics recently culled from on-line bibliographic sources including the Department of Education, National Educational Association, ERIC, etc. These are topics of current interest among research scholars in higher education. It may be that SSU will be interested in supporting cutting-edge planning objectives with no other justification.
