About SSU Mission components:

Throughout SACS reaffirmation literature published over many years, institutions have been cautioned and instructed to be sure that all their processes, procedures, and plans “are compatible with the institution’s stated purpose” or mission.  One safe way to ensure and document that SSU operations conform fully to this requirement is to simply link planning objectives at the outset directly to some enabling mission component in the Strategic Planner.

But, the SSU mission statement published both in the student catalog and on-line is a long 2-page document including components mandated by the BOR as well as locally developed.  Consequently, linking a planning objective to the whole institutional mission would be an ambiguous activity.

So, those many mission components and clauses all have been disaggregated and listed as individual topics under the “SSU Mission Components” tab and located under eight general categories, available from the prominent drop down menu.

To link a planning objective to a mission component, press the down arrow on the “mission components” screen to select a general category of purpose from SSU’s mission to which an objective might be linked.  Then, in the window below the drop down menu, a list of specific topics is displayed.  Position the cursor on any of the displayed topics and click the right arrow to move it into the right hand box.

In this right hand box then will be collected a list of all the various selected SSU Mission components that the specific planning objective is designed to support.
