Mission Statement: The mission of the Department of Human Resources is to provide positive leadership for human resources programs to attract, motivate, and retain a highly talented, committed, diverse work force.

Procedures Manual: When Available? Board of Regents Personnel Policy Manual; and HR Office Desk Manual will be available by June, 2000.
Basic Performance Indicators:
(Cost Effectiveness): Determine a per participant cost for the different types of training sessions and work to reduce the cost per participant to an optimal level.
2. (Time Efficiency): On average employees exiting the University complete the clearance
process over a period of one – two days. This process will be tracked to reduce the overall
time by one-half.
(Staff Production): On average, approximately 4 hours is spent monthly in assembling
new hire packets. Approximately 30 minutes is spent processing paperwork needed to enter an individual in the payroll system. Approximately 15 minutes is spent entering new employee data into the payroll system. This process will be reviewed to reduce non-productive staff time by 25%.

(Customer Satisfaction) Participant evaluations have documented satisfaction with the training sessions held to date. A survey will be issued to assess customer satisfaction with other aspect of services provided by the H. R. Department
University Initiative Responses:
(SACS Issues): In response to the recommendation for an institutional-wide process for documenting effectiveness in all areas, H.R. will conduct surveys on customer service and training needs assessments.
(BOR Issues): Collaborate with Georgia Southern University’s Office of Immigration Services to secure technical support when hiring Research Assistants holding J-1B VISAs.
(Strategic Plan Issues): Establish a training academy for staff development.
(Presidential Vision Issues): Work to recruit and retain a quality workforce which will meet the needs of the students.
