Action Plans

FY 1998:

An improved system of identifying applicants who will definitely attend the University as entering freshmen or transfer students. and will be potential honors program participants. Efforts will be made to recruit SSU upper-class students.

The dissemination of a prepared brochure detailing the SSU Honors Program.

Invitations to SSU Honors Convocation sent to all seniors in the National Honor Society (Chatham and surrounding counties)

Expansion of core course offerings as well as special course offerings

To submit proposals for presentations at NAAHP. SRHC, and NCHC conferences and to have as many students as possible attend conferences. and to encourage students. faculty and the institution to become members of honors councils and societies.

The establishment of an adequate 'independent budget for operation of the program, as suggested and recommended by the National Collegiate Honors Council. This budget would provide for the following: Printing, copying, office supplies. educational supplies (e.g. videos. cassette tapes, etc.), special programs (honoraria, fees. etc.), travel for director and part-tune salary (especially summer), memberships in NAAAHP, SRHC, and NCHC, entertainment.

To obtain more monies for scholarships and financial aid and to provide more guidance for students already receiving aid (renewal deadlines. requirements, etc.)

To invite recruiters from universities and funding agencies to the University to talk with juniors (1998 graduates)
