GSU = Georgia Southern
AAU = Atlantic Armstrong

 

Observation:  From its inception through the 1960's Savannah State attracted virtually all the African-American college enrollment in the Coastal Georgia Region.  By 1986, SSU's share of African American students in the region had declined to about half and by 1998 it had declined to under 1/3.  Since 1994, Georgia Southern has attracted a larger number of African-American college students than has Savannah State.
