Display 0703: Six-Year Graduation Rate, First-Time, Full-Time Freshmen

Learning Support Students, not yet college-ready at the time of admission, are allowed to matriculate at SSU but are required to successfully complete a series of basic skills courses before engaging the college-level curricula.  (In many other locales, these students are routed first to a Junior or Community College to hone their academic skills before being admitted to a University.  SSU has a track record of raising the academic levels of many of these students and seeing them through to graduation.)  Understandably, Learning Support Students  require longer to graduate than others and often do not do so within the six-year window tracked by national conventions.  For a variety of important reasons, SSU has typically had a larger ratio of Learning Support Students to Non-Learning Support Students than many other institutions.
